Welcome to the
Florida Land Rover Club

Look Out Citrus Richloam!,
The FLRC is coming your WAY!!

Spring Rally April 16-18, 2010

Howdy my fellow Rover Friends,

Alert: The rally is going to be held at Richloam!

Campground
We will be staying at Cypress Glenn campground where we have stayed before. Usually we can all fit, and largely monopolize the place. The two campgrounds either side will be the overflow if needed. Before moving on to the other campgrounds (if full), stop and talk to the officers or any member who looks at you! We will typically figure out how to have you double up with another member on their campsite.

Directions to Cypress Glenn Campground
Head North from Tampa on I-75.
Exit at State Road 50 (SR50) near Brooksville.
Head East for one mile.
Turn left (North) at Croom Rital Road(this is where the Florida Trail overpass crosses SR50).
Where Croom Rital road hits the interstate, turn Right at the Silver Lake/Cypress Glenn/Crooked River campground sign.
Drive straight past Silver Lake to Cypress Glenn which will be on your left.

Cypress Glenn has electric and water, and usually members bring their pets (on a leash). Not certain if it is legal though. Red cups if you drink an alcoholic beverage please.

The Spring Rally will be held in Citrus this year. In my opinion, which doesn't account for much, this is one of the best places to hold a rally. You are smack dap in the middle of the forest. No doubt it's not a big place to wheel like say Osceola or Richloam, but its close and its fun. I think everyone has a great time when we go there. And a huge plus is we don't have to bring the club tent. Jeff's counting his blessing over there.

We will be camping at Holder Mine as usual. This is a first come, first serve campground. I am sure the early arrivers will do their best to hold as many sites as possible. I don't think there is any hunting that weekend so we should be good. For those not wishing to camp, many local hotels, fuel, food, and beverages can be found within a mile of the campground. For "off trail" there are plenty of hotels and camp grounds on the East coast of Florida.

Map location of Inverness
From Tampa to Camp (Shortest)
For a mostly interstate route, exit I75 at Bushnell, head West, follow Rt 48 to 41 North West to Inverness.

If you have never been to Citrus before, it offers a variety of terrains. It has everything from small mud holes to many great articulation spots to big sugar sand hill climbs. Everything is close to camp and the Forest Ranger is very nice. Citrus has a little something for every type of vehicle whether it be a bone stock LR3 to a Jake Special Tube Buggy. Fun is sure to be had. Remember this is a "Red Cup" campground.

Rally Costs:
Pre-registered Members $20.00, at the Rally $25.00 Catered dinner $10.00 pp
Pre-registered Non Members $30.00, at the Rally $35.00 Catered dinner $12.00pp

The Rally Fee (a.k.a "T-shirt fee") buys you a rally T-shirt and sticker, your Vehicle Participation Windshield Sticker and all the Rover fellowship you can eat. You will also be able to partake in our famous raffle to win some awesome off-road equipment supplied by our sponsors. Also, expect our usual Saturday evening Rover-Barbeque-Dinner just before the raffle and club business.

Rally Notes:
We will be having a mandatory drivers meeting. It will be held Saturday around 9:30AM. Also, each trail ride will be headed by a trail leader.

The officers are all working hard to insure another fantastic Rally full of great off-road gear, excellent trail rides and the best camaraderie this side of the Dixie Line. So put in for those days off and start planning for a few days in the woods.

See everyone in a few months.

Happy Wheeling,

Mike Costello, Secretary and former President
